Choosing your Wedding Dress
This is one of the first things you should do after you have confirmed the date and secured the booking. Be warned that it can take up to 6 months for bridal shops to receive your dress once you have ordered it. Firstly you will need to know what your budget is and choose your shop accordingly there is no point going into a top designer shop if you have £400 to spend and there is no point going to a department store if your budget is £4000. The price of wedding dresses ranges from £100 right up to £6000+ be careful not to get carried away by trying on things that you can not afford. There are many beautiful dresses that are priced under the £500 mark. What matters is that you feel amazing when you're wearing the right dress for you.
Many brides have a good idea of the type of dress they want. Some brides have even chosen their dress from a magazine or picture on the internet. This is a disaster waiting to happen by all means have an idea of what you like and pictures of dresses on models are a great way of choosing which ones you want to try on. It is very important that you give yourself plenty of time to go and try dresses on even if you think you already know. You may choose to go on your own or with a couple of friends or relatives. Either way it is a good idea to check with the shop before you go as work by appointment only.
It is highly recommended that you start your trying on session with picking a number of different colours and styles. Keep your mind as open as possible even if you could never see yourself in a puffy princess gown it is worth trying one on, enjoy the moment and have some fun. Once you have tried at least 6 to 8 different styles and colours you will have narrowed it down to which ones looked the best with your shape and skin tones. Now comes the best bit go back round all the dresses in the shop and pick as many dresses to try on as you can see that fit into these categories. When you try on your perfect dress you will know! It may sound cheesy but it is a truly strange phenomenon, ask anyone who has been there.
Ok so you have now chosen your dress, some brides prefer to walk away and have a coffee or a quiet think just to reassure themselves. Trying it on for a second time after a bit of time out will usually clinch the deal. It is right to be cautious as it is a very important part of the day. Take a hair clip with you so you can try it with your hair up and down, with a veil and without. They will usually have a few tiaras for you to try as well. Make sure you are 100% sure before you purchase.
Once the wedding dress is chosen and ordered the hard bit is over. Now it is time to move on to lingerie, shoes, hair, jewellery and accessories. You can take a bit more time over choosing these but make sure you have them sorted before your dress fitting, especially the shoes!
